Delete your Nurture account

You can delete your Nurture account and everything stored with it at any time, from the app or by email. You do not need to have the app installed. Your plants, reminders, and history are kept on your phone, not with your account, so deleting the account does not touch them.
From the app
Open Nurture, go to Settings, and under Account tap Delete account. It happens straight away.
If you signed in with Apple, your iPhone asks you to confirm with Apple first, and Apple then stops Nurture using your Apple ID. Apple sends you an email when it has.
Without the app
- Email appnurture1@gmail.com with the subject Delete my Nurture account.
- Send it from the email address your account uses. That is how I know the request is yours. If it comes from a different address, I will ask you to delete the account from the app instead.
- If you signed in with Apple and chose Hide My Email, your account uses an address ending in privaterelay.appleid.com. Include that address in your email; you can find it on an iPhone under Settings, your name, Sign-In & Security, Sign in with Apple, Nurture.
- Some accounts made with Sign in with Apple hold no email address at all. If yours is one, I cannot find it from an email, and I will reply asking you to delete it from the app on an iPhone, as described above.
I delete the account within 30 days, usually within a few days, and reply to confirm.
If you signed in with Apple: a request by email cannot stop Nurture using your Apple ID, because only the app can ask Apple to do that. After your account is deleted, remove it yourself on an iPhone under Settings, your name, Sign-In & Security, Sign in with Apple, Nurture, Stop Using Apple ID.
What is deleted
- Your sign-in: the account itself, with your name and email address from Apple or Google, and every sign-in method linked to it
- Everything stored with the account: how many plant identifications you have used each month, any extra ones earned by watching an advertisement, and counters that limit how often requests can be made
What is kept
- A monthly count for your phone. Plant identifications are also counted for each phone, under a code made from your phone's identifier that cannot be turned back into it. The count holds nothing about you or your account. It is kept so that deleting an account and making a new one does not reset the phone's monthly allowance.
- Server logs, for up to 30 days. When you earn an extra identification from an advertisement, Google's advertising service tells Nurture's server which account to credit. The record of that request, which includes your account's identifier, is kept in the server's logs for up to 30 days and then deleted automatically.
- Counts with nothing personal in them. A daily total of identifications across everyone, and the names of plant species people photographed that the care guide does not yet cover.
What Nurture never stored
- Your plants, reminders, history, and photos stay on your phone. Uninstalling Nurture removes them. If you made a backup file, that is yours to keep or delete.
- Photos you send to identify a plant are not stored by Nurture. They are sent to a third-party AI service to be identified, which deletes them within 30 days (or keeps them up to 2 years if its safety systems flag one) and never uses them to train its models.
